Technical specifications

The pressure chamber HAUX-QUADRO 2700-2200 with its rectangular pressure vessel is designed to provide an optimal treatment environment. With a capacity of 16 persons in the main chamber and 2 persons in the pre-chamber, we can ensure that several patients can benefit from HBO therapy at the same time. The chamber is designed for a working pressure of 2 bar.

 Project schedule and milestones

We had already upgraded the control system of the decades-old pressure chamber at the Ostrava City Hospital in 2007. The new tender in 2020, which we won as part of an EU tender, involved replacing the existing system with a completely new, ultramodern pressure chamber. The project engineering was handled by our design department. The aim was to continue to use the existing technical room in the neighbouring building and to integrate the modern pressure chamber in a new building. The project was successfully completed in 2024, meeting all customer requirements.

Excellent cooperation

A key success factor in this project was the close cooperation with our local HAUX-partner, who successfully coordinated the communication with the Ostrava City Hospital. Through this partnership, the hospital was able to upgrade its HBO therapy to the latest state of the art. This ensures that patients receive the best possible treatment and that research in the field of HBO therapy, carried out in cooperation with the local university hospital, can continue at the highest level.

A specialist heavy haulage company also played an important role in ensuring the smooth and safe installation of the 45 tonne pressure chamber in the new building.

Special features of the project

Compared to the previous chamber, the new HAUX-QUADRO 2700-2200 at the Ostrava City Hospital offers – besides the special rectangular design of the pressure vessel – several innovative functions and advantages, which significantly improve the therapy process for the patients. One of these features is minimal breathing resistance and especially exhalation support. While conventional pressure regulators often create a certain amount of resistance, the new pressure chamber uses a special technology to ensure minimal breathing resistance and also allows patients to keep their mask on for the entire therapy, even at a chamber pressure of less than 0.3 bar.

Looking to the future

With the successful installation of this state-of-the-art pressure chamber, Ostrava City Hospital is now able to offer HBO therapy at a new level in the Czech Republic.
